The Organic Matter That Matters
Problem:
If you're like us, you produce awful lots of food waste– heaps of it, really. Peels, used coffee grounds... Wouldn't it be great if you could turn all that stuff into fertile soil rather than adding yet another pile to landfill? We think it would. And that's the idea behind Seed to City. Over 9.5 million tonnes of food is wasted every year in the UK. That’s equivalent to 19 billion plates of food– yet 1 in 4 people in the UK worry about not having enough food to eat. With food waste typically making up for one third of city residents’ general waste, our food scraps recycling initiative aims to reduce food waste by collecting and recycling food scraps separately and turning it into compost for use on our farms.
Solution:
Seed to City tackles the issue of food waste. Revolving around the notion of circular farming the organization aims to reconnects humanity with nature. Uniting urban communities and rural farm areas within London to convert food waste in to compost and in turn growing and sharing amazing fresh produce straight from their soils to your table... and back again!
